SEL Toolkit Needed!
Due to COVID-19 schools did not have the time to create social and emotional supports-not for teachers, students, or parents. Moving forward, I agree that schools need to develop a comprehensive plan for distance learning-not only in academics, but a plan that also has social and emotional supports built in. Teaching students to speak about their emotional well-being is crucial. So many were left to isolation, not even accessing distance learning plans. The barriers? These are many-including access to curriculum, resources, language, and cultural barriers, to name a few. Although teachers were asked to continue learning virtually, they may not have the skills to equip our students. Many need training or strategies to incorporate as part of the weekly lessons they push out to students and their families. An SEL Toolkit for Educators!
